ABBREVIATIONS & DEFINITIONS

All:  All Vend Types.  Some Whirlpool machines can accept any vend type on the same machine (coin drop, coin slide, card, non-vended).

Alliance:  Alliance Laundry Systems.  Parent company of Speed Queen.

Card:  Smart Card Operated.  Instead of taking coins, these machines accept a smart card for payment.  The card is loaded at a CTS or VTM.

Combo: Stack washer & dryer combination.  This unit contains a single dryer and front-load washer stacked vertically.

Console: The control panel or backsplash of the machine.  This is used in several picture file names.

CTS/VTM:  Cash (Credit) Transaction Station / Value Transfer Machine.  These are machines that allow a user to add money to a smart card.  This is typically done by inserting cash, but can also be done by credit card.

D:  Dryer.  This denotes a standard single gas or electric dryer.

Drop:  Coin Drop.  These machines accept quarters for payment through a slot.  Coin drops are typically used on electronically controlled machines.

E:  Electric Dryer.  Electric dryers use a 220V electrical connection that provides both heat and power.

FC:  Front-Control.  Speed Queen offers some machines in two cabinet configurations.  Front-control machines do not have a backsplash and contain the controls directly about the loading door.  This can apply to front-load washers, along with dryers.

FL:  Front-load washer.  This is a washing machine with the door on the front.  It uses less water than a traditional top-load washer.  These machines are Energy Star certified.

G:  Gas Dryer.  Gas dryers use propane or natural gas for heat and a standard 110V electrical connection for power.

Grav:  Gravity Drain.  Speed Queen offers front-load washers with either a gravity operated drain or a pump-operated drain, depending on how the machine is to be installed.

HE:  High-Efficiency.  This is another way to describe a FL washer.  In the files, it is used to denote a MTG or WHL dryer that matches a FL washer.

Horizon:  Speed Queen’s name for a front-load washer.  More generically, they use it to describe the family of products that match a Horizon washer.

Maytag Connect 360:  This is Maytag’s product for online viewing of machine status by users.

MDC:     Micro Display Control.  This is Speed Queen’s mid-range line.  It is electronically controlled and has an LCD display.

MTG:  Maytag.

Peak Performance:  In 2013, the US government mandated new water usage standards.  This caused redesigns of all of the top-load washers we sell.  SQ’s solution was to put a larger washtub in their washers.  Later, their engineers came up with a way to meet the new requirements while reverting to the original, smaller tub.  This is the Peak Performance TL Washer (Quantum line only).

PTS:  Push to Start.  These machines do not take any payment and are mechanically controlled.

Pump:  Pump Drain.  Speed Queen offers front-load washers with either a gravity operated drain or a pump-operated drain, depending on how the machine is to be installed.

Quantum:  Speed Queen’s high-end line.  This machine provides the more cycle selection options than the MDC.  It is available in standard white or stainless steel (only limited machines are available in the SS option).

RC:  Rear-Control.  Speed Queen offers some machines in two cabinet configurations.  Rear-control machines have a traditional backsplash at the rear of the machine.  This can apply to front-load washers, along with dryers.  This is also the default configuration for TL washers.

Slide:  Coin Slide.  These machines are mechanically actuated and are the most affordable vended machines.  They are the ‘traditional’ coin-operated machines.

Solid:  Solid Door.  Speed Queen offers stack dryers with either solid doors or windowed doors.

SQ:  Speed Queen.

Stack D:  Stack Dryer.  This is a stack dryer, either gas or electric.  It is just like a single dryer, except it contains two drying pockets stacked vertically in one unit.

TL:  Top-load washer.  This is the standard washing machine, which is loaded from the top.

Wash Alert:  This is Speed Queen’s product for online viewing of machine status by users (only available on the Quantum line).

WHL:  Whirlpool.

Window:  Windowed Door.  Speed Queen offers stack dryers with either solid doors or windowed doors.
